Field Notes

Starting the day on the train, seeing all kinds of people. There are the people going to work, or to school, or going out, etc. After being on the train for over an hour, having to transfer trains, walking out of the station, feeling tired of starting the walk through this park to campus. To me, that park feels like a forest. But after all that, finally made it to the NAC building. Walking towards the door, with the sun beaming in everyone’s eyes. From the door to the escalator, where mostly everyone goes. Inside the NAC building, all you see are students, professors, school safety, etc. walking around. Right off the escalators there are the students who use their free time to study to the left. Like at the tables closest to the library, there is a girl with her bag on the seat next to her, using her pink MacBook to do her work, with her wired headphones in. At the table next to her are two girls, who are friends, one is talking loudly and laughing. One of them has dunkin donuts, with a strawberry frosted donut with rainbow sprinkles and coffee. But on the seats behind the tables by the wall are students that sit one seat over from each other, on their phones, with their bookbags or purses on their lap. To the right getting off the escalators, is the pantry, I believe. There’s a boy in a blue T-shirt and black shorts, just looking through what they got, but after all that time he spent there, he just left with nothing. Maybe he didn’t like anything there. There are many other students there, getting what they want there, such as coffee. In this area, the sound of the AC is louder than the students talking, but it makes it smell like fresh air in here but with a hint of a coffee smell in the air.
